Hi everyone.
I'm sorry to have to throw this all on you right now.

We're losing Lilim.
The person paying for its hosting has chosen not to pay for it anymore.
As it was on a dedicated host, and good hosting doesn't come cheap, it looks like we will end up taking it down.
He's chosen to cancel its hosting at the end of this month, but until then, Lilim will stay up.

Lilim costs about $204 US each month because of its high-quality hosting.
Setting the hosting back up would cost $233 for the first month, as well.
I've looked into alternatives before, but cheaper hosting tends to be cheaper for a reason.
Bad service, hidden restrictions, and so forth.
The one I had for Lilim even put the burden of showing proof of copyright onto anyone contesting it.
This meant that it was safe from almost any legal issues from Gravity or other companies.

Besides that, our web hosting here at leafcat.org is also going to run out fairly soon.
The web hosting costs $119.40 per year, but in actuality it's pretty cheap stuff, as web hosting usually is.
It runs out in early February, February 5th to be exact.
If it isn't paid by then, our site will most likely go down until it is.
However, we will be given at least a month of leeway to pay for that particular bill.
We already had a chance of losing our web hosting, but while I was gone, I managed to prevent this.

This server has other costs as well, but they are less important or currently do not apply:
We pay $43.13 per year for the ability to host our patch server, but it isn't due until July 5th.
We also have to pay 15$ per month for a banner on the topsites list, helping us get more players.
Excess money goes toward other advertising as possible or is kept for future expenses, but right now...
Needless to say, I'm more worried about other things.

If we can not find steady payment for Lilim, it will go down until we can.
All character data will be kept on file and remain in storage until we can find a way to pay for these things.
I am aware that cheaper hosting does exist.
However, it's because those hosts severely limit bandwidth or other things.

I only want what's best for you guys.
If worst comes to worst, I may try to have Lilim hosted alongside Gabriel.
However, if I do that, both servers will experience a lot of lag and other problems.
As it stands right now, we can not afford Lilim's dedicated hosting.
We also can not afford a better connection for Gabriel, limiting our options right now.

aRO needs your help, or things could get messy for us, and I really don't want us to struggle. x.x

In summary...
For our webhosting, we need $119.40 for this year, due February 5th.
For our patch server, we need $43.13 for this year, due July 5th.
For Lilim to survive, we need $233.00 for the first month and $204.00 for every other month.
This comes out to a total of $2273.00 year for Lilim, and $162.53 for other important hosting.
A grand total of $2,435.53 needed this year to pay for everything.

I can't stand how expensive things are, but bandwidth doesn't come cheap.
At bear minimum, we must keep our web hosting and patch server for aRO to survive.
I am sure someone will come forth to help us with the money for at least that much.
But I really do NOT want to lose Lilim, and it will be expensive to keep it, so I need your help.
Right now, I do not make any money, nor do I spend the money donated to us on anything but running it.
We currently have slightly over $40 in donations, which I am saving up to pay for our webhosting.

Guys, I'm sorry. I don't like having to throw things like this on you.
I'll do my best to save what I can if you guys can't help.

More on this situation as things change, if they do.

Sincerely, your administrator
Sara Leen

As crappy as this is going to sound; in the worst case scenario (No money at all) We'll still have Gab, right?

Yes. But in the worst case scenario, we lose everything BUT Gabriel.
That includes the forums, that includes the patch server. Everything.
There would be no more updates, no website, nothing.

Green meadows, lovely woods, you will lose your beauty.
Pretty flowers, rapid brooks, your charm and beauty will soon wither.
The beautiful one changed, and at first it's horrific, but all will return.

Aside from the whole "I toldja so" additude, how much bandwidth are we talking here? Since I now work for Verizon FiOS, I can upgrade my connection to a nice 50/20, or leave it at 20/5, but I have to debate it, as well as locate another computer if I decide to say yes, as well as have 100% of the server in agreement of letting me host once again.

All this being said though, I'm offering a possible out for you guys. Not sure if I'll even go through with it, so don't solely rely on this offer, but it's there.

My Arktis.

It is Huge.

It is big enough for the whole server.

...though, 3 people doesn't exactly say much. They are far larger than enough for 3 people.

At least the website and patch serv would be awesome Ark, I'd be much in your debt personally.

Oh also Sara; in the worst case scenario; we could always just host the forum on a random lycos site or some crap, or I know some people who could probably host the forum since it doesn't get that much traffic.

By having 100% the server you mean become administrator and tweak it however you want ?

Lrn2context.

Having 100% of the server (sic: population) in agreement of letting me (ark) host once again.

He's saying he realizes the history here, and would not want to run it, unless all the players (ie: the server) agreed it was a good idea.

push comes to shove, I can offer up some web hosting from my site in the form of a sub-domain for the site and the forums. I have plenty of extra bandwidth.

Well, i can't host the SERVER, but i can host web things like the site and forums as i said. My web space isn't a gaming server web space, and my home connection isn't good enough for hosting a server (internet connections are expensive in the midwest T_T)
